In September, the 1.6 HDi Peugeot-Citroen will source a number of improvements aimed at enhancing the effectiveness, with the clear objective of reducing fuel consumption and emissions. The new 1.6 HDi versions from 92 to 115 hp receives a variable flow oil pump (reduces the effort taken on the engine), new engine and transmission oil with lower viscosity (containing mechanical losses due to friction) and of shaft seals new generation engine, which decreases the clamping force and thus the friction.

The package also includes modifications of a pulley of the alternator belt redesigned (reduces the tension of the belt) and a vacuum pump with low friction, which prevents the dissipation of energy. PSA has revealed that these improvements reduce fuel consumption and emissions by around 6%.
